Asa Davison

Asa Davison, who had fought int he early wars, was fife major during the Revolution. A fife major is: "a noncommissioned officer who superintends the fifers of a regiment."

He enlisted, 1778, in Captain Nathaniel Webb's company, 4th brigade, Connecticut troops, under Colonel John Durkee. He was born in Preston, Connecticut.

Ezra Davison (1765-1834) enlisted at the age of sixteen and served as matross in Capt. Banjamin Durkee's company. A matross is: "a onetime gunner's mate (as during the American Revolution) that assisted in loading and firing and sponging guns." 

Ezra Davison was on the pension roll of Rensselaer Country, N.Y., 1831, for service as private, Connecticut militia.
